- The catalogue "Pilgrimage of Russian Art. From Dionysius to Malevich. Masterpieces from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery and museums of Russia" accompanies the eponymous exhibition at the Braccio Carlo Magno of the Vatican Museums and includes 54 works which are mostly held by the State Tretyakov Gallery. The icons and sculptures dating from the 15th to the 18th century and the 19th- and early 20th-century paintings are not considered autonomous, self-sufficient or even contrasting works, but together show Russia art as following a common path. The reference -- conscious or otherwise -- to the ancient Russian tradition are evident in the "capital" paintings of the 19th and the first third of the 20th century, which richly trace the nation's spiritual way, revealing its unmistakable symbolism, spirituality and, at times, its mysticism. The catalogue, arranged in chronological order, is introduced by essays penned by three authors
