Lieut: General Cromwel's letter to the honorable William Lenthal Esq; speaker of the honorable House of Commons, [Elektronisk resurs] of the several great victories obtained against the Scots and Sir Marmaduke Langdales forces in the North: where were slain of the Scots party above two thousand, above nine thousand taken prisoners, four or five thousand arms taken, the whole infantry ruined, Duke Hamilton fled into Wales, and Langdale northward, Major General Vandrusk, Colonel Hurry, and Colonel Ennis taken prisoners, who formerly served the Parliament. The government op [sic] the Common-wealth of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and the dominions thereto belonging [Elektronisk resurs] as it was publickly declared at Westminster, the 16. day of December 1653. In the presence of the Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal of England, the Lord Major and aldermen of the City of London, divers of the judges of the land, the officers of state and army, and many other persons of quality. At which time and place his Highness Oliver, Lord Protector of the said Common-wealth, took a solemn oath for observing the same. Published by His Highness the Lord Protector's special commandment.
