Epidemiological and ergonomic studies of professional drivers / by Gudrun Hedberg.

• This report summarizes a thesis based on six different studies. The aims of these studies were to survey the period prevalence of musculoskeletal complaints among professional drivers; to investigate the relationship between these complaints and the driving posture among engine drivers; to measure the physical strain involved in the work of drivers of lorries and tanker trucks; and to evaluate a new design for the driver's workplace in the Rc locomotive. There was a relationshíp between the prevalence of complaints among engine drivers and the differences between the anthropometric measurements of the drivers and the dimensions of the workplace. The physical strain in the work of drivers of lorries and tanker trucks was estimated as sometimes high.
