- Doris, a 96-year-old woman living alone in her Stockholm apartment, opens a red address book and begins writing the dramatic story of her life, to bequeath it to Jenny--her American grandniece, and her only relative. Despite the weekly Skype calls from San Francisco, Doris is afraid she will run out of time to tell her about the stories of her colorful past--childhood and working as a maid in Sweden, the sudden death of her father, the traumatic separation from her mother and sister, modeling in luminous Paris during the 30s, fleeing to Manhattan at the dawn of the Second World War, of good people she met, and of human misery she has recently encountered. Most importantly, she wants to tell her about Allan, who showed Doris that love can endure. --
